Map Design — Minnesota State Parks Map

This student project had us creating a map, I chose to do Minnesota with the topic of State Parks. I researched into the topic and found that there is a lot of State Parks just for Minnesota alone. Combing through the many articles and information about the state parks on Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources website I found an interesting image of the various biomes found in Minnesota. I wondered why no one has included this information within a map. I figured this would be relevant information and decided to include it eventually adding to the overall visual style and main feature of the map, those biome regions. Finding a way to clearly communicate the location as well as their corelated number was an important factor in the design without compromising for a weaker visual appeal. The software I used for the creation of all assets, Illustrator, with Photoshop used for the mockup visualization.
