Packaging Design — Little Caesars

Project type

Packaging Design

Location

Dakota County Technical College

This student project had us creating a package design of any kind, I chose to do a pizza box which initially had me wondering what pizza brand I should do, ultimately settling on Little Caesars as I found their visual style compelling and thought it’d be an interesting style to work with. I did research on roman architecture and created some design elements such as the roman pillars with a bowl of fire atop it. I thought of some advertisements to include on the sides of the box making sure to follow the die line I’d created, as well as some quality-of-life design decisions for the consumer specifically, like the reheating instructions. While I was doing research about Little Caesars and more specifically Julius Caesar who the mascot is designed after, I found lots of information about the individual that caused me to envision how they could be more accurately applied to the likeness of the Little Caesars brand. This is most clearly realized with the top of the box where you can find the Roman Dictator sitting atop his throne of pizza boxes with the signature spears crossing above him to show his threatening position as a Roman Dictator. The promotion I found the most amusement out of was on the bottom of the box, the Rest.In.Pizza advertisement explaining that if you’re seeing this, your pizza is likely upside down and ruined so we’ll replace it as there is a no-cost warranty on your pizza. The software I used in the creation of all assets, Illustrator.
